So you want to go play in your backyard or perhaps frisk around in someone else’s?
Anal sex can feel amazing and there’s evidence that it can be beneficial to your health. Using toys that can add lots of fun to butt play.
Now before we get into backdoor playthings let’s remember the following:
- If you’re putting something in your ass always use lube! Lots and lots of lube. Anal tissues are a fun bundle of sensitive nerves surrounded by delicate tissue that don’t self-lubricate. You don’t want friction back there, so use lube. Use it early. Use it often. I’ll say it again peeps – ALWAYS USE LUBE!- Your butt is one end of your digestive tract. The other end is your mouth. Anal sphincters are grabby and if something gets pulled into your body you may need a doctor to get it out again. Rather than make an emergency visit to your proctologist, make sure that anything you put in your bum has a wide base, a ring or a human body at one end.
- Toys made of sterile or easily disinfected material such as metal, pyrex or high quality silicone are great for anal play. Non-porous materials are easy to clean, they won’t stain or trap any odor.
- Try to poop before you play. That way you know it’s all clear back there.
- If something’s been in your ass, don’t put in another person or another part of you before you’ve had a chance to clean it properly. Alternatively, you can use condoms to keep your toys sanitary during anal play.
- Using latex barriers such as condoms and dental dams help reduce the risk of transmitting or contracting a sexually transmitted infection.
- And finally: ALWAYS USE LUBE!
Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s move on to the fun stuff! As I said there are many different options when it comes to bum toys. Here are five of my favourites:
#1 Plug
How does it work?
Why would I use one?
Plugs provide a feeling of fullness, which many people find pleasurable. A plug may put additional pressure on the prostate or g-spot during intercourse and/or amplify sensation during orgasm.
What else should I know?
Plugs come in a variety of sizes. If you haven’t done a lot of anal play, choosing the right plug may be a little overwhelming but no need to sweat or fret. It’s important to choose something that feels comfortable, so I usually recommend that beginners start with a slender, model no girther than a finger or two. You can always move up to something larger as you gain more experience with anal play.
2. Beads
How Do They Work?
Anal beads are a series of small connected balls with a handle on the end. Typically each bead in the series is slightly larger than the one before it. The beads are inserted into the rectum and at the desired moment (often, but not always during orgasm) they are removed.
Why Would I Use Them?
As they’re pulled out, anal beads stimulate the anal sphincter. This can be especially pleasurable if the beads are removed in synchronization with contractions of the anus during orgasm. Some people only insert a few beads at a time, while others enjoy feeling the entire length.
What Else Should I Know?
Some beads are connected by a length of string. Personally I’m not a fan of that design as string is virtually impossible to disinfect. Instead look for beads that are connected by a shaft of non-porous material like silicone, metal or pyrex.
3. Dildos
How does it work? Dildos are phallic shafts that are generally used for…well…fucking. Some people think of a dil as a vaginal toy, but if it has a flared based or you put it in a harness, it can be great for butt sex as well!
Why would I use one?
Dildos are great for people who want to have butt sex but don’t have a partner or don’t have a partner with a penis. They’re also a fantastic option for people who enjoy anal penetration but might find their partner’s penis uncomfortable. Dils are also handy if you want to do it bum-wise, but your back, hips or legs are up to the thrusting.
What else should I know?
Use a dildo because you think they’re awesome.
4. Prostate Massagers
How Does It Work?
An angled stem (often made from hard-plastic or other firm, non-porous material) attached to a handle. When the stem is inserted in the rectum the angled designed will put pressure on or “massage” the prostate gland.
Why would I use one?
The prostate gland is very responsive part of the male anatomy. Prostate stimulation can produce intensely pleasurable sensation and orgasm and may even lead to multiple orgasm for some people. It is also believed by some that massage can promote prostate health. Access to the prostate or “p-spot” lies a few inches inside the rectum. P-spot massagers are ergonomically designed to give a person or their partner easy access to all that prostate-y goodness!
What else should I know?
There are dual massagers available so that two partners can experience all-anal awesomeness at the same time!
5. GlovesHow Do They Work?
I’m not talking about the wooly winter variety or those big rubber mothers you use to wash dishes. I’m speaking specifically about the latex gloves. You know, the kind doctors wear. Slap those babies on your hands and you’ve just transformed your digits into sweet, smooth, ass-pleasing machines!
Why Would I Use Them?
Fingers are convenient and super-effective sex toys. First of all, they’re right there. They’re attached to your body. They’re also very sensitive in their own right, which is a big plus when you’re feeling up someone’s bottom parts. Gloves smooth out hangnails, callouses or any other rough spots that might give your partner’s ass an owie. They also take lube very well and we all know that when it comes to butt play we (say it with me) ALWAYS USE LUBE!
